#6 Global Trends
When someone thinks of a trend, what do you really think of? Do they think about how it came about or how creative it might be? Do they think about if it came from somewhere overseas or even decades ago and they are now bringing it back. A trend is defined as a general direction in which something is developing or changing, a fashion, and the subject of many post on social media websites within a short period of time. That can range anywhere from in the United States to overseas.
A trend that is slowly on the come up I would say has to be K-POP, better known as Korean Pop music. K-pop is a music genre originating in South Korea, characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. This music genre has grew over the years and after K-pop artist performed at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Here are a few artist that preformed BoA, Seventeen, iKON, EXID, Bolbbalgan4, Red Velvet, GFriend, and many others.
What people do not know was that for the different music groups and artist that K-Pop has they received major exposure just from preforming in the winter Olympics for the whole duration. So, i can now see the start of how this is becoming a global trend just because of the fact that the groups and artist are given the opportunity to shine and make a splash into American music.
As a person who loves music no matter what the genre might be, it is a few artist that I could actually see myself listening to and that I feel is making there way into America if they keep on trending. one music groups is on number 10 on the Top 60 K-POP Songs chart for March. B.A.P who is all male boy band the six members are Yongguk, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup, and Zelo. There song Hands Up has moved down 3 spots but to me, they still sound amazing.
One artist that I have been keeping up with since 2016 is Korean trap rapper Keith Ape and his song It G Ma (Never Forget) is one of my favorite songs by him. Of course he has other songs but this one more so is his most streamed song reaching approximately 50 million views and 601 thousands likes just on YouTube this video is all on Facebook in 2017.
The next artist that is on a major come up in the KPOP music and is starting to trend has to be iKON. They are number 3 on the charts and there song LOVE SCENARIO is blazing the charts. This song has people around the world moving and grooving to this hits the song has more of an R&B flavor mix with a little bit of Hip Hop. The ladies love and adore them so, what is there more to say about it. Except that they are pure artist in the making.
Lastly, the music group Seventeen latest song Thanks has been heating up the charts as number 2 on the top 60. Seventeen, also stylized as SEVENTEEN or SVT, is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2015. The group consists of thirteen members divided into three sub-units, each with a different area of specialization: a 'Hip-Hop Unit', 'Vocal Unit', and 'Performance Unit'. Seventeen has released two studio albums and four extended plays. The group's members are deeply involved in the composition and production of their discography and choreography and have been since debut, which prompted their nickname as a "self-producing" group.
